Description

Objective:

This certification exam was developed based on a product task analysis that defined the skills required to use Adobe Photoshop CS3 as an application specialist. The exam measures the examinees' ability to complete image editing and composition activities such as frames animation, painting and cloning over multiple video frames, and importing and exporting video files in a wide range of formats. The exam consists of 39 performance-based and multiple choice exam items. The exam is delivered in a simulated Adobe Photoshop CS3 application environment, and examinees must complete the exam within a 50 minute time limit.

Approximate percentage of examination by content area:10% Setting Project Requirements: Identify the purpose, audience, and audience needs for preparing image(s); demonstrate knowledge of standard copyright rules for images and image use; and understand project management tasks and responsibilities.23% Identifying Design Elements When Preparing Images: Demonstrate knowledge of image resolution, image size, and image file format for Web, video, and print; design principles and image composition; typography; color correction; and image generating devices and their resulting image types.26% Understanding Adobe Photoshop CS3: Identify elements of the Photoshop CS3 user interface and their functions; understand key terminology of digital images; demonstrate knowledge of layers and masks; demonstrate knowledge of importing, exporting, organizing, and saving; demonstrate knowledge of producing and reusing images; and demonstrate an understanding of and select the appropriate features and options required to implement a color management workflow.34% Section 4 Manipulating Images: Demonstrate knowledge of selections and measurement; use Photoshop guides and rulers; transform images; adjust the tonal range and correct the color of an image; and demonstrate knowledge of retouching and blending images, drawing and painting, type, and filters.7% Section 5 Evaluating Digital Images: Demonstrate knowledge of preparing images for Web, print, and video.
