Description

Objective:

To enable the student to understand the basic concepts, theories and practices of business accounting.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Describe the content and purpose of financial reports, such as the balance sheet, income statement and cash flow analysis
  • Analyze and prepare various transactions using both the accrual basis and cash basis of accounting
  • Understand the accounting treatment for asset accounts such as cash, receivables, inventories, fixed assets and intangibles, as well as liability and capital accounts statements
  • Understand the accounting cycle and prepare a worksheet including all journal entries and adjustments
  • Understand accounting for a merchandising business
