Description

Objective:

The course objective is to provide an examination of the evolution of human relations in the workplace, concepts of motivation, and leadership behavior. The role and function of the individual within an organizational structure are addressed. Students will learn many human relations concepts, while learning about the importance of how to apply these concepts to their daily lives.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify major life changes and understand how life changes lead to an increased awareness of self and others
  • Identify and explain workplace dynamics including the psychology and theories of motivation, leadership styles, and different types of communication
  • Understand factors related to individual success including the components of emotional intelligence and strategies for getting a job
  • Understand the unique challenges of today's working world and explain how they fit into a larger picture of human relations as a broad discipline.
  • Identify historical trends in human interactions
  • Identify human relations skills applicable to workplace and beyond
