Description

Objective:

The course objective is to address DoD security as a profession by examining the disciplines and responsibilities within the security field and a discernment for its integration into a program; provide a strategic perspective on the function of security across disciplines and DoD organizations; establishing a foundation for other courses in the CDSE graduate program; and discuss the emerging role of the multidisciplinary security generalist in contrast to the more narrowly focused security specialist.

  • research current issues and topics related to cyber security/COMSEC, investigations, security management, and force protection and anti-terrorism DoD security policies
  • discuss security systems to support or enhance security of an installation or program
  • research current issues and topics related to personnel, physical and industrial security policies of the DoD

  • discuss interdependence and integration of security systems
  • discuss the integration of security into military operations
  • analyze DoD security policies to identify possible issues
  • evaluate DoD security policies for strengths, weaknesses, and areas of improvement
  • develop solutions for improving the effectiveness of current DoD security policies, or make a case for maintaining the status quo
