Description

Objective:

The course objective is to examine the legal foundations that either mandate or imply a duty to protect or secure certain persons, property, or information within the DoD and provide the security professional with a superior grasp of the legal requirements for performing the security mission within the DoD area of worldwide responsibility.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Analyze the constitutional delegation of governmental authority, as it relates to national security
  • Create a legal research presentation, based on a Department of Defense legislative history of security guidance
  • Evaluate the legal aspects of the DoD, including personnel security, information security, physical security, industrial security, Sensitive Compartmented Information and Special Access Program, research and technology protection, operations security, communications security, and counterintelligence operations
  • Evaluate the challenges of International Law on Department of Defense security programs, considered binding in their relations with one another
  • Propose alternate solutions by creating an appropriate response, to potential legal issues related to the Department of Defense security programs
