Description

Objective:

The course objective is to address DoD security as a profession by examining the disciplines and responsibilities within the security field and a discernment for its integration into a program; provide a strategic perspective on the function of security across disciplines and DoD organizations; establishing a foundation for other courses in the CDSE graduate program; and discuss the emerging role of the multidisciplinary security generalist in contrast to the more narrowly focused security specialist.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Analyze security in the areas of a generalist, personnel, physical, information, industrial, nuclear, and management of the DoD security arena
  • Analyze the types of investigations used by an organization to protect its property and bring a single issue to a satisfactory conclusion
  • Evaluate force protection, antiterrorism security disciplines, and specialty areas to determine causes for injury and death
  • Assess the implications for future protection efforts
  • Make judgments and set standards
  • Assess issues of personal accountability
  • Create proposals and alternative solutions to implement the defense critical infrastructure protection for its systems and assets, whether physical or virtual
  • Predict the willingness and the combination of new technologies for national security with the expertise to improve operational efficiency
