Description

Objective:

The AS Level exam consists of two parts, Paper 1 and Paper 3.
The Further Pure mathematics Paper 1 (two hours) includes 6-8 structured questions and accounts for 60% of the AS Level exam grade.
The Further Mechanics Paper 3 (1.5 hours) exam includes 5-7 structured questions, comprising 40 percent of the AS Level exam grade.

Skills Measured:

The Assessment Objectives are 1) Demonstrate mathematical knowledge and understanding of relevant mathematical concepts, terminology and notation and accurately recalling and using the appropriate mathematical manipulative techniques; and 2) Apply and communicate by recognizing the appropriate mathematical procedure for a given situation, applying appropriate combinations of mathematical skills and techniques in solving problems, and presenting relevant mathematical work, and communicate corresponding conclusions, in a clear and logical way.
