Description

Objective:

Upon the successful completion of this course, students will be able to strengthen their leadership and management skills while they learn competitive underwriting strategies.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Students will learn how to motivate employees, manage organizational change, and lead with emotional intelligence.
  • Students will gain an understanding of how to recruit employees for diverse and aligned teams, managing performance to maintain alignments with organizational goals, cultivating leaders using professional development plans, and instituting career paths and succession planning.
  • Students will learn to align virtual teams, an organization’s culture with its missions, and stakeholders with an organization’s mission.
  • Students will learn about the insurance underwriting cycle; the strategic management process; underwriting policy and guidelines; measuring underwriting profit; product features, pricing, and service strategies; and improving account retention and persistency.
  • Student will examine how to identify the need for changes in existing products, determine the reasons for changes in a book of business, make corrective changes in a book of business, and use cost-benefit analysis on product development.
  • Students will learn how to manage client and internal data, and will explore the future of underwriting data.
