Description

Objective:

The course objective is to enable students to understand the fundamentals of personal financial planning and basic investing and to apply the appropriate planning tools needed in order to maximize wealth and minimize taxes.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Illustrate the features and tax implications of various types of investments
  • Describe the role of government programs in personal financial planning
  • Distinguish various approaches to investments in equities, mutual funds, IRAs, annuities, fixed income investments, and qualified retirement plans
  • Identify and classify the various sources of retirement income

  • Explain the personal financial planning process
  • Identify the major classifications of personal financial planning objectives and how risk tolerance relates to selection of investments
