Description

Objective:

The course objective is to provide advanced academic training with practical, real-world applications to assist credit union personnel who aspire to achieve senior-level management and leadership positions in the credit union system.

Learning Outcomes:

  • develop a basic understanding of the concepts and techniques of asset-liability management
  • identify factors that go into making wise financial decisions at a fictional credit union before students are forced to make the tough decisions in real life
  • discover techniques for delivering professional presentations
  • illustrate how to organize and lead a crisis management team and develop effective processes for making decisions and communicating during a crisis
  • examine regulations such as: ADA, ADEA, FLSA and CRA that managers must comply with while attending to daily business
  • explore the political and legislative process in Washington and gain inside information on what really happens on Capitol Hill
  • identify coaching techniques that work to improve individual and team performance and learn how to provide effective feedback and recognition
  • summarize ethical challenges in today's business environment and strategies to respond
  • gain a working understanding of various financial ratios and NCUA's CAMEL rating
