Description

Objective:

The program objective is to provide the student with a combination of in classroom and project-based learning in STEM fields. Students will gain knowledge and work experience at a Fortune 150 company. The program structure will incorporate fieldwork along with classroom learning experiences utilizing transferable skills noted in the Secretary of Labor's SCANS (Secretary's Commission of Achieving Necessary Skills 1991) report. Skill development will take place in both technical and non-technical areas including resume writing, presentation, interview skills, and Lean and Six Sigma basics for Yellow Belt certification.

Learning Outcomes:

  • develop a personal resume utilizing the tips and strategies presented during the class
  • identify different presentation techniques and styles associated with the corporate and technical environments using this knowledge to deliver a final presentation to their course facilitator, leadership and peers
  • identify key elements in successful interview styles for both virtual and in person interviewing completing a mock interview with the facilitator and other leaders by using the tips and strategies learned in the course
  • understand the basics of a highly regulated healthcare working environment
  • develop an understanding of transferable skills and knowledge in professional development areas that will increase business acumen
  • integrate classroom and work-related experiences in specific project assignments
  • demonstrate an understanding of their assigned work location and business.
