Letter on the Reinstatement of Veteran Debt Offset Policy

​​This letter to Veterans Affairs Secretary Shinseki requests that VA maintain the policy of exempting tuition and fee payments from veterans' debt offsets, which has been in place since 2009.

ACE and the associations signing the letter believe the proposed offset policy will have serious unintended consequences for participating institutions and veteran students and also violates the faith and intent of the enrollment certification process. The problem is exacerbated by VA's restrictive privacy policies and failure to communicate with both institutions and veterans.​
