Registration is open for the Jan. 8-9 offering of the ACE
Leadership Academy for Department Chairs (LADC).
The workshop, to be held in Long Beach, CA, triggers a year of engagement for LADC participants. Other LADC activites include a series of five webinars that will focus on cutting-edge higher education issues and topics of particular relevance to chairs and other unit leaders.
Participants also will be able to take advantage of a Blackboard-based resource site of materials that support the department chair’s roles and responsibilities.
The two previous workshops, including LADC’s
inaugural offering at Miami University (OH) in July, have filled up quickly, so those interested are encouraged to register promptly.
The agenda for the January workshop includes sessions on the critical role of chairs in advancing academic quality and boosting student success and degree completion.
A past participant commented that he “took away quite a bit of knowledge and plenty of ideas for the future….The topics were 'real' and not just abstractions.”
The workshop is open to division heads, program directors and unit leaders, in addition to department chairs.
