New ACE Program to Facilitate U.K.-U.S. Institutional Collaboration
October 16, 2017

Internationalization leaders at U.S. institutions are invited to apply to new program designed to facilitate professional networking and collaboration with counterparts in the United Kingdom.

Jointly developed by ACE’s Center for Internationalization and Global Engagement (CIGE) and Universities UK International, CIGE Global Connections: U.K. Networking Intensive will take place in London Dec. 11-14.

The selected delegation will:

  • Attend the semi-annual conference of Pro-Vice Chancellors for International Affairs from approximately 40 U.K. institutions, organized by Universities UK. Special sessions will focus on shared challenges for higher education internationalization in the United States and United Kingdom, key challenges international education leaders face in their jobs, and opportunities to expand and enhance U.K.-U.S. institutional partnership.
  • Explore the U.K. higher education system in a changing political context through meetings with experts, including Universities UK staff, government representatives and campus leaders.
  • Spend a day on a U.K. campus to learn how international activities are managed, exchange good practices and discuss possible collaborations. Participants will be assigned to a campus based on mutual interests, similarity in institution type and/or potential for institutional partnership development.
  • Create an ongoing community of practice by engaging with U.K. and U.S colleagues and ACE staff before, during and after the program. Virtual meetings will complement in-person activities. ACE staff will provide information, resources and support, and will accompany the delegation throughout the program.

Meetings and discussion topics will be customized based on the needs and interests of participants. The program is appropriate for internationalization leaders with and without previous U.K. experience. It will benefit U.S. institutions with any level of existing U.K. engagement, as well as those seeking to establish U.K. partnerships for the first time.

The deadline to apply is Oct. 23. Please contact Robin Matross Helms at rhelms@acenet.edu or 202-939-9408.
