The 2012-13 inaugural class of ACE's Institute for New Presidents assembled in suburban Washington, DC, last month for its first in-person meeting, with participants gaining insights into topics such as leading during a time of crisis.
Designed specifically for presidents in their first two years of service, the Institute for New Presidents is a nine-month program consisting of three in-person meetings complemented by a series of webinars held during the intervening months. The next session will be held Dec. 13-14 in Washington.
A packed, highly participatory agenda for the July meeting included topics such as “Working Effectively with Your Boards” and “Leading Beyond the Campus,” as well as media training. The sessions were facilitated by experienced and highly successful presidents and other thought leaders. In all, more than a dozen current and former veteran presidents and chancellors offered advice and counsel.
Meeting dates for the class of 2013-14 will be announced this fall. Registration to participate in that class also will open in the fall.
