Donte Boyer, In the Right Place at the Right Time
From the age of 13, Donte Boyer knew what he was going to be when he grew up: "I wanted to be a carpenter and work on my grandmother's house." By the time he was a young adult, he began to realize that dream through an apprenticeship program in Trenton, New Jersey. Donte Boyer, an NJ PLACE (New Jersey Pathways Leading Apprentices to a College Education) participant, used ACE credit recommendations to earn his associate degree and is now enrolled in Rutgers’ Bachelor of Science program in Labor Studies. With 14 credit hours remaining, he will graduate in December, following a path to graduate studies in law and business management.
