Association of Chief Academic Officers Elects Officers and Board, Welcomes New Members

​The Association of Chief Academic Officers (ACAO) elected its first board of directors and slate of officers last month during its business meeting at ACE’s Annual Meeting in San Diego, and continues to welcome eligible institutions as members.

The ACAO is the first national professional organization of chief academic officers (CAOs). It represents CAOs such as provosts and vice presidents for academic affairs from all accredited higher education institutions and provides a dynamic environment where they can communicate with, inform and educate one another. ACE, in its role as a convener for higher education associations, has assisted in the startup of the organization.

April Mason of Kansas State University was elected the organization’s president. Other officers are: Carolyn J. Stefanco, Agnes Scott College (GA), vice president/president-elect; Denise A. Battles, University of North Carolina Wilmington, secretary; Steve O. Michael, Arcadia University (PA), treasurer; and Wendy K. Wilkins, New Mexico State University (Emerita), past president ex officio.
