ACE has awarded Juliet García, president of The University of Texas at Brownsville, with the ACE Lifetime Achievement Award and Karen Haynes, president of California State University San Marcos, with the 2013 Donna Shavlik Award.

Although women earn the majority of postsecondary degrees, they occupy just 26 percent of all college presidencies, according to recent data from ACE. To coordinate efforts to bridge that gap, ACE’s Inclusive Excellence Group last month convened Working Together to Move the Needle: Advancing Women in Higher Education Leadership.
The gender gap in higher education seems to be stabilizing for every group, except one.
The ACE Women’s Network is a national system of networks within each state, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia with the goal of advancing and supporting women in higher education.
