Lifelong Learning

The lifelong learning landscape is rapidly changing, with new venues for engagement in learning across the life span. These increased possibilities support learning and attainment for adult learners in a variety of environments and through a multitude of sources, from corporate training and continuing education on college campuses to personalized learning through open education resources, such as Massively Open Online Courses (MOOC’s), online tutorials, and game-based learning.

With only 22 percent of adult learners age 25 and older having some college but no degree, this population’s participation in postsecondary education is critical to our nation’s global competitiveness and quality of life. ACE is committed to boosting adult learners’ postsecondary access and success by providing leadership in lifelong learning, and spearheading and highlighting initiatives, policies, and practices that move adult learners to and through postsecondary credential programs.
