Prepare for GED Tests In Person
You may wonder if you need some help preparing for the GED
Tests. If you feel you may, contact an adult education resource
center in your area and staff members can help you decide whether you
will need to study for all the tests, or whether you should spend time
brushing up on just a few areas.
Four Ways to Locate Instructional Sites and Adult Education
Resource Centers Near You
- Visit GED Testing Service's GED
Preparation Contacts by State and call, write or email the
contact in your state who can help you find preparation programs near
you.
- Search by zip code for the GED Testing Center nearest
you and ask for assistance.
- Visit America's Literacy Directory at the National Institute for
Literacy (NIFL) web site. Simply enter your zip code to receive a
customized listing of nearby programs and locations. The U.S. government
also operates a toll-free information number through NIFL at (800)
828-8133.
- Look in your local telephone book's yellow pages under "schools."
Check the listings for libraries, literacy programs, high schools, and
community colleges in your area as well. Or look in your local
government's blue pages to find the office responsible for adult
education in your community. Programs offered by schools and colleges
may be listed under "adult education," "continuing education," or "GED."
You can also call the general information number listed for high
schools, colleges, or your board of education, and ask for information
about GED classes.
For further assistance, call the GED Testing Service's toll-free
number, (800) 62 MY GED [(800) 626-9433], and we can refer you to
preparation classes and testing centers in your local area.
Call for Additional Guidance
You may wish to talk with someone who can help you identify the best
instructional setting for your needs. The National Center for Family
Literacy hosts a call center that provides this service. Call the Family
Literacy Infoline at (877) 326-5481, or visit the National Center for Family
Literacy's web site for direct access to family literacy program
site information in the Family Literacy Program Directory.
