Prepare for GED Tests at Home
If you decide you want to study on your own after looking at the
in-person and online resources we've provided, the
instructional resources listed below may help—ranging from
television study aids to official practice tests.

Instructional Resources
There are a variety of tools you can use to prepare yourself for the
GED Tests. GED Testing Service partners with Steck-Vaughn, Kentucky
Educational Television (KET) and Paxen Group provide the following
materials:
GED Connection > Start
Now
GED Connection, from PBS LiteracyLink and KET, allows you to
study at home for the GED Tests by watching programs broadcast on most
PBS stations. For your local TV schedule, visit the PBS LiteracyLink web
site, and enter your zip code in the top right corner of the first
page, check with your local public television station or call KET at
(800) 354-9067.
Official GED Practice Tests > Start Now
Steck-Vaughn publishes the Official GED Practice Test (OPT) and provides
an easy-to-use online site for you to practice from home.
Visit Steck-Vaughn or contact a local testing center to
learn more about the short- and full-length versions of the
OPT.
Keys to GED® Success
Maximize your chances for GED testing success by preparing with books
that focus practice on areas that have been the most challenging for
other GED test-takers! Based on research by GED Testing Service, this
five-book series targets key skills that GED candidates need to improve
their chances of passing the tests. Each of the five books includes a
pretest to help evaluate skills you will need to practice and answers
with complete explanations so you can better understand how to make
correct answer choices.

be ordered directly from Steck-Vaughn or you may
ask your local GED testing
center about the series.
GED Plus
Paxen Group develops and delivers the GED Plus Program in
Arkansas and Georgia in connection with the provision of GED testing
preparation services rendered to military personnel and out-of-school
youths.
NOTE: Steck-Vaughn, Kentucky Educational Television (KET) and
Paxen Group have agreements with the American Council on Education
permitting use of the GED term and mark in accordance with the specific
terms of their agreements. To inquire about obtaining permission to use
