GED Testing Service®
Contractor Opportunities

GED Testing Service is currently soliciting proposals from qualified contractors for the following services related to the development and production of the GED Tests:

Content Coordinating Team Consultant

Description

The GED Testing Service (GEDTS) is seeking education professionals with experience and knowledge of high school academic content standards and curricula to serve as members of the Content Coordinating Teams (CCTs). Six CCTs are being established, one in each of the five academic disciplines of the GED Tests: language arts (reading), language arts (writing), mathematics, science, and social studies, as well as a sixth CCT for the Canadian version of the social studies test.

CCT members will actively participate in the development of the 2012 Series GED Tests by reviewing test items and associated stimulus materials or reading passages for alignment with GED test specifications, content coverage, and cognitive level. In addition, as field test or operational test forms are assembled, CCT members will review the forms for adherence to test specifications and test blueprints. The GED Tests have been designed to provide an opportunity for adults who did not complete a formal high school program to certify their attainment of high school-level academic knowledge and skills and earn their jurisdictions' high school-level equivalency credential, diploma, or certificate. As such, it is essential that CCT members have a strong familiarity with the achievement expectations associated with high school graduation.

Location and Duration

The work of the CCT will be conducted through a combination of in-person meetings to be held in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area and virtual meetings to be held via computer and teleconference. Whether in-person or virtual meetings are held, notice of scheduled meetings will be provided well in advance to allow for maximum team member participation. Professionals who are selected to serve as CCT members will be invited to participate in up to 10 meetings per year, some possibly held on holidays and/or weekends. The first in person meeting would occur during the first quarter of 2009. The GED Testing Service will contract with CCT members on an annual basis, with annual renewals for up to five years.

Honorarium and Reimbursement

Individuals selected to serve as CCT members will receive an honorarium of $400 per day, as well as reimbursement for round-trip transportation, meals, and accommodations for in-person meetings.

Who Should Apply

Ideal CCT members will have:

  • A Master's Degree or higher in a discipline related to one of the five GED content areas
  • Experience with high school academic instruction, curriculum, and achievement expectations at the school, district, or state/jurisdiction level
  • Experience with test development and administration in a variety of settings
  • Leadership experience in content-based professional organizations or academic instructional activities
