Eye on Washington: A Road Map to Federal
Compliance
By Terry Hartle and Melanie Corrigan
The impact of government regulation on colleges and
universities is hard to see and almost impossible to quantify. All
college and university presidents know that it can be complex,
expensive, and tedious to comply with federal regulatory mandates. But

is, well, mysterious.
To illustrate what regulation means in practice, this article
summarizes the federal reporting and record-keeping requirements with
which colleges and universities must comply to be eligible to
participate in federal student aid programs. . . .
