Eye on Washington: A Road Map to Federal Compliance

The impact of government regulation on colleges and universities is hard to see and almost impossible to quantify. All college and university presidents know that it can be complex, expensive, and tedious to comply with federal regulatory mandates. But exactly what those mandates are and what it takes to comply with them is, well, mysterious.

To illustrate what regulation means in practice, this article summarizes the federal reporting and record-keeping requirements with which colleges and universities must comply to be eligible to participate in federal student aid programs. . . .
