Before going to Mount Mary, Dr. Timm served as vice president for student affairs at Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana, from 1995–2006. Prior to her work at Saint Mary's, she served for 23 years at Illinois State University, where she had roles of increasing administrative responsibility in student affairs, including residential life and director of the student judicial office.

Dr. Timm received her bachelor of science degree in communication, her master’s degree and her Ph.D. in educational administration and foundations from Illinois State University. She has attended Harvard Institutes for Higher Education, including the Harvard Seminar for New Presidents in 2006. Dr. Timm has researched and published on issues of student judicial affairs and student academic life.

But Dr. Timm is so much more than a compilation of career and educational accomplishments. Her extraordinary professional volunteer activities have impacted many different organizations. While in Wisconsin, she was a member of the Board of the Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges & Universities and the Wisconsin Foundation for Independent Colleges.

In 2006, Dr. Timm received the YWCA Tribute to Women Award in education from the South Bend, Indiana, YWCA. In 2004, the Association for Student Affairs at Catholic Colleges and Universities honored her with a director emeriti status for her work as a founding member, director and past president of the association. Dr. Timm was also a founding member of the Association for Student Judicial Affairs. In 1997, Dr. Timm was inducted into the College of Education Hall of Fame at Illinois State University.

Dr. Timm is a member of the American Association for Higher Education, the American College of Personnel Association, the Association of Student Judicial Affairs, the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, and the National Association for Women in Education.

She is also supportive of the work of the Office of Women in Higher Education, so much so that she co-sponsored the opening evening reception at the Summit for Women Presidents held in Milwaukee, WI in June 2008.
