Distance Education Resources

Links to resources on distance learning.

2009–2010 Directory of Accredited Institutions (PDF) is published by the Distance Education and Training Council.

AdultEd Online provides resources and tools for those who are interested in becoming or are currently distance teachers.

American Distance Education Consortium is a nonprofit distance education consortium composed of approximately 65 state universities and land-grant colleges.

The Community College Consortium for Open Educational Resources (CCCOER) is a joint effort by the Foothill-De Anza Community College District, the League for Innovation in the Community College, and many other community colleges and university partners to develop and use open educational resources (OER) in community college courses.

The Distance Education and Training Council (DETC) is a voluntary, non-governmental, educational organization that operates a nationally recognized accrediting association, the DETC Accrediting Commission. The Commission is dedicated to fostering quality assurance, protection of the rights of the students, and institutional self-improvement through voluntary accreditation via peer evaluation.

The Distance Education Clearinghouse is a comprehensive web site managed and maintained by the University of Wisconsin-Extension that brings together distance education information from Wisconsin, national, and international sources.

EDUCAUSE is a nonprofit association that promotes higher education through best practices in information technology and highlights research, policy, and practice through publications and conferences.

The Electronic Campus for adult and e-learners is for individuals seeking e-learning courses or programs and information to start or resume their college education or to satisfy a job requirement.

Innovate: Journal of Online Education is a bi-monthly online periodical published by the Fischler School of Education and Human Services at Nova Southeastern University.

International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE) is recognized by the United Nations (UNESCO), and serves as the global umbrella membership organization in online, flexible, and blended learning, including e-learning and distance education.

MIT Open Courseware (OCW) is a web-based publishing initiative that provides free, open, and high-quality educational materials to educators, students, and lifelong learners worldwide.

The Open CourseWare Consortium is a worldwide collaboration of higher education institutions and associated organizations to provide free and open digitally published learning courses. More than 100 Open CourseWare (OCW) projects are underway in the United States, China, Europe, Japan, and Latin America.

The Orange Grove is a collection of searchable digital educational resources for teachers and institutions through the Florida Distance Learning Consortium.

Project IDEAL (Improving Distance Education for Adult Learners) is a consortium of states working together to raise the quality of distance education through research and practice.

The Public Library of Science is an online clearinghouse of scientific and medical literature, available free to the public.

TED is a nonprofit organization that offers talks, performances, and conferences on technology and other topics. Through its Open Translation Project, it shares information in more than 50 languages.
