Articles, reports and research projects pertaining to distance and online education.

Online Learning as a Strategic Asset, a two-volume study from the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) and Sloan Commission on Online Learning, provides results from a survey of faculty on issues pertaining to perceptions about quality and support for course development and online instruction.

Evaluation of Evidence-based Practices in Online Learning [PDF] (U.S. Department of Education, 2009). Report provides a meta-analysis and review of online learning research studies.

State of E-learning in Canada [PDF] (Canadian Council on Learning, May 2009). Report describes the strengths, challenges, and promise of Canada's e-learning system and includes an analysis of lifelong learning and technology.

The Horizon Report [PDF] (Educause Learning Initiative & New Media Consortium, 2009). The sixth in a series, this report identifies key emerging technologies, central challenges, and significant trends.
