In response to the needs and requests from our members, ACE is offering a series of new leadership seminars geared toward cabinet-level higher education leaders. These two-day intensive experiences are focused, interactive, and feature experts in the field. Upcoming events include:

What Next? A Leadership Seminar for Presidents Preparing for Transition

  • August 6–8, 2008
  • San Diego, CA
  • For: Presidents considering retirement within the next five years
  • Designed to help presidents prepare for retirement. Facilitated by recently retired presidents, this seminar will focus on personal and institutional transitions. Features optional sessions with wealth management consultants from TIAA-CREF and Fidelity.

CAO/CFO Collaboration: Building A More Effective Partnership

  • August 13–15, 2008
  • Washington, DC
  • For: Chief Academic Officers and Chief Financial Officers
  • With partial sponsorship by Blackboard
  • Co-sponsored by ACE and NACUBO, designed to understand each other's roles, improve communication between CAOs and CFOs, and strengthen their effectiveness as members of the leadership team.

Leading Your Institution in a 24-Hour News Cycle: What Presidents Need to Know

  • December 8–9, 2008
  • Washington, DC
  • For: Presidents
  • Working with Lipman Hearne, a public relations/communications firm, presidents will explore the changed media environment as well as tools and tips to prepare them to meet the current challenges.

Higher Education in Brief: A Seminar for Leaders New to Colleges and Universities

  • Fall 2008
  • For: Deans, Directors, Vice Presidents, and Presidents
  • Designed for those coming in to the academy from other industries, this session will explore the culture of higher education, why things happen as they do, and current challenges confronting colleges and universities.
