Resources for Adult Learners

From its first programs for returning World War II veterans, the American Council on Education has supported adults' access to postsecondary education. The following links connect you to ACE programs and services geared to adult learners and lifelong learning professionals.

Programs & Services

ACE Transcript Service
Provides lifelong learning registries for adult learners who have taken ACE-evaluated military and corporate courses.

Center for Lifelong Learning (CLLL)
Offers programs and services for colleges and universities, the military, and business, labor, and industry. Addresses lifelong learning issues through national initiatives, publications, and workshops.

College Credit Recommendation Service (CREDIT)
Connects workplace learning with colleges and universities by helping adults gain access to academic credit for formal courses and examinations taken outside traditional degree programs.

GED Testing Service®
Develops, delivers and safeguards the GED Tests and awards the GED credential in partnership with 72 jurisdictions in the U.S. and Canada. The GED credential certifies attainment of high school-level academic knowledge and skills.

Lifelong Learning Resource Center
Provides support to organizations and institutions who utilize ACE’s College Credit Recommendation Service, answers participant inquiries, and connects the adult learner with ACE credit recommendations to higher education.

Military Programs
Provides programs that advance postsecondary access and completion of educational goals during and after periods of military service.

Reinvesting in the Third Age Project
ACE's two-year research project on older adults in higher education.

Serving Those Who Serve Initiative
ACE's broad-based initiative to promote access to and success in higher education for veterans and their families.

Online Resources

ACE's free monthly e-letter for lifelong learning professionals.

First Stop
