Virginia Tech President Charles Steger, author and syndicated columnist Arianna Huffington and Intel Board Chair Craig R. Barrett were among the featured speakers at the 90th Annual Meeting of the American Council on Education (ACE), held Feb. 9-12 in San Diego. The ACE Annual Meeting provides a forum for college and university presidents and senior campus administrators to discuss key policy issues and share best practices.

New Survey Suggests More Work Needed to Broaden the Pool of Women and Minorities in Line for College Presidencies

American Council on Education Presents 2008 Donna Shavlik Award to Adrian Tinsley

ACE's Office of Women in Higher Education (OWHE) today honored Adrian Tinsley, president emerita of Bridgewater State College (MA), for her lifelong commitment to advancing women's issues in higher education by presenting her with the 2008 Donna Shavlik Award. [read more]

Arianna Huffington spoke Saturday evening at the Women's Leadership Dinner hosted by the ACE Office of Women in Higher Education. Huffington is the co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post, a popular news and blog site; a nationally syndicated columnist; and author of 11 books. Robert Glidden Receives 2008 ACE Council of Fellows/Fidelity Investments Mentor's Award

ACE's Adult Learner of the Year Inspires Family to Follow His Lead

Rolando Gorostiza always encouraged his children to pursue their college degrees but felt his words were hollow as he had not graduated from college himself. Now, degree in hand, Gorostiza is an inspiration to his entire family. ACE today named Gorostiza the 2008 Adult Learner of the Year in recognition of his educational achievement. [more]

Miami Dade College President Honored for His Dedication and Commitment to Diversity in Higher Education

ACE today presented Eduardo J. Padrón, president of Miami Dade College, with the 2008 Reginald A. Wilson Diversity Leadership Award for his extraordinary contributions to the higher education enterprise. [more]
