ACE, the major coordinating body for all of the nation's higher education institutions, seeks to provide leadership and a unifying voice on higher education issues and to influence public policy through advocacy, research, and program initiatives.

In an effort to strengthen American colleges and universities, the American Council on Education offers a series of leadership and professional development programs and activities. Among ACE's most notable leadership development programs and activities are:

The Spectrum Initiative
Advancing Diversity in the College Presidency aims to diversify and broaden the executive leadership pool in higher education through programmatic and research initiatives involving university trustees, current presidents, aspiring leaders, executive search firms, and others. More Information

ACE Presidential Roundtables
Explore the key trends colleges and universities are facing, with a particular focus on accountability, public funding and privatization, competition, and public confidence in higher education. More Information

The ACE Institute for New Chief Academic Officers (CAOs)
Provides practical executive leadership development through facilitated discussions, case studies, conversations with peers, and briefings by national experts. More Information

The Internationalization Forum for Chief Academic Officers
Supported by the Henry Luce Foundation, is a network of approximately 50 CAOs who share promising practices and explore common leadership challenges related to internationalization. More Information

Advancing to the Presidency
A Workshop for Vice Presidents offers an opportunity for vice presidents (or the equivalent) who will be seeking a presidency within the next two years to explore presidential leadership, the CEO search process, contract negotiation, and successful transitions into the presidency. More Information

The nation's premier higher education leadership development program that has been preparing senior leaders to serve American colleges and universities since 1965. Fellows Program alumni/ae number in the hundreds. More Information
