be skilled at managing the media. Two seasoned media consultants provide
a primer on public relations and engage participants in mock
scenarios.

Workshop II: The Art and Craft of Friend-making: Securing
Resources in the 21st Century
The ability to secure funding and support is no longer solely the
responsibility of the president or chancellor; it is becoming a required
skill for all levels of campus leadership. A panel of experienced
fundraisers provides tips and guidelines for becoming skilled in the art
of finding resources to support institutional mission.

Luncheon Plenary: Playing the Game to Win: Understanding
the Demands of Campus Athletics
Collegiate athletics are often the most recognizable aspect of an
institution and can be a source of controversy and crisis. College
leaders must understand the demands of being ultimately responsible for
campus athletics, particularly given the 24-hour news-cycle. Two
speakers will share their experiences with college athletics and the
importance of grasping the complex nature of this enterprise.
4–5:30 p.m.
Afternoon Plenary Panel: Transitions and the
Presidency
Transitioning into or out of a presidency or moving between
institutional types offers a whole set of challenges. This panel of
campus leaders reflects on and discusses transitions into collegiate
leadership, decisions to switch institutional type, and strategies for
effectively managing presidential transitions.
