From Where We Sit Sequel: To Progress and Preserve

To celebrate OWHE's 35th Anniversary, the Office will host the Fifth Summit for Women Presidents, which will use what retired and current presidents have learned and can share, and what soon-to-be-presidents can offer, on pipeline and support issues for women moving toward or serving in an academic presidency or chancellorship.

Date and Time

2 p.m., June 22, 2008, through
5 p.m., June 23, 2008.

Location

The Hyatt Regency Milwaukee Hotel, 333 West Kilbourn Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53203. Please make your reservations with the Hyatt Regency Milwaukee Hotel (milwaukee.hyatt.com) by calling (414) 276-1234. Mention the American Council on Education or Summit for Women Presidents meeting to be eligible for the special rate. A major credit card will be needed to guarantee your reservation and to cover any incidentals. To ensure lodging in the conference hotel, reservations should be made by May 22, 2008.

  • Women presidents/chancellors, accompanied by
  • Women identified by those presidents/chancellors as being ready to lead an institution of higher education within the next five years
  • Retired women presidents/chancellors

  • Strategies for identifying women with leadership potential
  • Strategies for developing the skills and breadth of experience of such women
  • Strategies for advancing women along the administrative pathways
  • Strategies for recognizing the support necessary to assure retention along the path to and in the presidency
  • Succession Planning

  • Plenary sessions
  • Smaller group discussions
  • Dinner and Closing Keynote addresses
  • Special networking opportunities
  • Special Reception hosted by Wisconsin women presidents

Cost

This Summit is a benefit for ACE members. ACE will cover the cost of registered participants' catered meals, lodging at the Hyatt Regency Milwaukee Hotel for one night, and conference materials. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from the Summit and incidentals at the hotel. A major credit card will be needed to guarantee your reservation and to cover any incidentals.

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations must be submitted in writing by May 22, 2008. Any cancellations made after the deadline will be accessed the rate of one night's stay at the conference hotel. Please email your cancellation to debra_louallen-cole@ace.nche.edu.
