ACE’s Office of Women in Higher Education Seeks Nominees for the State Network Leadership and Shavlik Awards

Oct. 27, 2009

The American Council on Education’s (ACE) Office of Women in Higher Education (OWHE) is pleased to invite nominations for the ACE/OWHE State Network Leadership Award and the Donna Shavlik Award.

Both awards will be presented at the ACE Annual Meeting in Phoenix, AZ, on March 6, 2010, at a reception immediately preceding the Women’s Leadership Dinner.

This ACE/OWHE State Network Leadership Award recognizes an outstanding, innovative, and visionary program sponsored by an ACE/OWHE State Network or by a college or university. The winning program will have demonstrated leadership and documented commitment to the advancement of women through initiatives that identify, develop, encourage, advance, link, and support women in higher education. It will also demonstrate a sustained impact on the advancement of women.

To nominate a program for this award, submit the nomination form and a narrative statement addressing how the nominated program has identified, developed, encouraged, advanced, linked, and supported women in higher education. Submissions must be received by Nov. 30, 2009.

Established to honor a long-serving director of OWHE, the Donna Shavlik Award recognizes sustained and continuing commitment to women’s advancement in higher education, either in colleges and universities or in national positions. We seek nominations of individuals who have demonstrated leadership and commitment to the advancement of women through actions or initiatives enhancing women’s leadership development, career development, campus climate, and mentoring of and for women at both the state and national levels.

Nominations must include the nomination form and a letter of endorsement or short narrative statement that addresses the criteria described above. Submissions must be received before Nov. 30, 2009.
