Objectives and Activities
Reinvesting in the Third Age will:
- Describe the landscape of lifelong learning needs
and expectations for older adults aged 55-79.
- Increase awareness in the higher education
community about these needs and expectations.
- Disseminate best practices and policies emerging
from:
- Multiple sectors in higher education.
- Various regions of the country.
- Promote educational access and success for all
adults.

The two-year project will produce:

- An introductory document that describes the
emerging demographics of adults aged 55-79.
- Two focus groups through which we will learn more
about older adults’ postsecondary educational needs and
expectations.
- Two regional roundtables that will:
- Engage campus leaders.
- Share insights on best practices and policies.
- Make recommendations for serving older adults in higher
education.

- A final report that identifies:
- Educational needs of older adults.
- Promising practices in colleges and universities.
- Existing and future gaps in higher education programs and
services.
- Strategies for higher education's reconfiguration to meet older
adults' needs.
- Policy proposals for the various sectors across higher
education.
