The Internationalization CollaborativeAs a learning community of 109 institutions, the Collaborative provides a forum for faculty and administrators to share ideas and help each other in furthering their international agendas. Members share information about institutional strategies and outcomes and key issues that need further research and advocacy. The activities of the Collaborative focus on the challenges to implementing comprehensive internationalization strategies at member institutions. The activities of the Collaborative are guided by the Advisory Council, an 18-member group that serves as a liason to other Collaborative members and provides direction for Collaborative activities. For information about joining the Collaborative, please contact Jill Wisniewski at jill_wisniewski@ace.nche.edu. Web Resources
Annual MeetingACE sponsors an annual meeting of the Internationalization Collaborative in Washington, DC, bringing together the leadership teams from each of the member institutions. Agenda items for past meetings have included comprehensive internationalization, faculty engagement, international learning outcomes, assessing internationalization, and strategies for moving ahead. The Annual Meeting is open to Collaborative members only.
Regional MeetingsInstitutional members of the Collaborative host regional meetings on internationalization. These meetings are open to all institutions seeking to enhance their internationalization efforts. Past topics have been new directions in international education, leveraging resources in international education, and cultures and languages across the curriculum. Access past regional meetings here. Upcoming regional meetings include: October 15–16, 2009 November 6-7, 2009 Collaborative Mini-Grant AwardsThe purpose of the mini-grants is to encourage member institutions to develop activities to learn from each other and to accelerate the impact of internationalization at their institutions. The institutions may focus on the same topic (e.g., assessing students' international learning), or they may have different learning goals (e.g., College A is interested in how College B uses technology to enhance learning, while College B may want to learn how College A established joint-degree programs with an international partner). ACE especially encourages cross-sector partnerships, such as ones between community colleges and four-year institutions, that address students' international learning throughout the educational and transfer process. New or existing partnerships/consortia may apply.
