PurposeThis Summit provided participants with a forum to explore and reflect on the most promising strategies for the advancement of women of color into senior administrative positions in higher education. Who AttendedA total of 130 women of color attended this year's Summit. Attendees
included 13 presidents/chancellors, 7 associate chancellors, 1 assistant
to the president, 19 vice presidents, 10 associate vice presidents, 4
provosts/chief academic officers, 28 deans, 14 vice provosts/associate
provosts, 4 department chairs, 21 directors/mid-level administrators, 2
ACE fellows, 2 association representatives, 5 other. Advancing as Leaders: Celebrating Achievements, Addressing Challenges was sponsored by the American Council on Education's Center for Effective Leadership, Center for Advancement of Racial and Ethnic Equity, and Office of Women in Higher Education. This was a Spectrum Initiative event. We are grateful to Spelman College for serving as our host institution. The Summit was generously supported by a grant from the American Express Foundation.
