About the ACE Library and Information Service

ImageEstablished in 1956 as a memorial to George F. Zook, ACE President (1934–50), the ACE Library and Information Service is a specialized collection of books, journals, electronic resources, and nonprint materials dealing with higher education. Library and information services, including borrowing privileges, are available to all employees of associations located at One Dupont Circle and to employees of associations that are members of the Washington Higher Education Secretariat. The Library is open to the public for on-site use only. If you are on a campus, we strongly urge you to first contact your university or college library for reference assistance before contacting the ACE Library.

Books
The Library’s 6,500-volume book collection addresses all aspects of higher education, including admissions, administration, adult and continuing education, curriculum, faculty issues, economics and finance, history, instruction,international education, minority concerns, philosophy, policy, students, and women's issues. You can search the Library's catalog from your desktop.

Journals, Periodicals, and Newspapers
The Library subscribes to nearly 125 higher education and general interest journals and periodicals. Major newspapers, including the New York Times, Washington Post, and Wall Street Journal, are received daily. Back issues of newspapers are kept in hard copy for one month. The Chronicle of Higher Education is retained permanently.

Reference Collection
Reference materials include general and specialized encyclopedias; biographical, corporate, and foundation directories; directories of American and international colleges and universities; and directories of sources of student financial aid.

ERIC (Educational Resources Information Center)
The ERIC database can be searched online in the Library or from your desktop at http://www.eduref.org/Eric. ERICdocuments prior to 1996 are available on microfiche. A microfiche reader-printer is available on site. Most documents from 1996 forward are availableelectronically.

Photocopying
Photocopying is available on site. There is no charge to employees of associations located at One Dupont Circle or to employees of associations that are members of the Washington Higher Education Secretariat.
