Virginia Tech President Charles Steger, author and syndicated columnist Arianna Huffington and Intel Board Chair Craig R. Barrett were among the featured speakers at the 90th Annual Meeting of the American Council on Education (ACE), held Feb. 9-12 in San Diego. The ACE Annual Meeting provides a forum for college and university presidents and senior campus administrators to discuss key policy issues and share best practices.

ACE's Office of Women in Higher Education (OWHE) today honored Adrian Tinsley, president emerita of Bridgewater State College (MA), for her lifelong commitment to advancing women's issues in higher education by presenting her with the 2008 Donna Shavlik Award. [read more]

Huffington is the co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post, a popular news and blog site; a nationally syndicated columnist; and author of 11 books. Rolando Gorostiza always encouraged his children to pursue their college degrees but felt his words were hollow as he had not graduated from college himself. Now, degree in hand, Gorostiza is an inspiration to his entire family.
