The Commission on Lifelong Learning:

Helps guide the activities of the Center for Lifelong Learning and its programs.

Advises the staff on lifelong learning trends and other matters pertaining to its programs and services.

Reviews policy statements, guidelines, and principles of good practice on adult learning issues and, where appropriate, submits recommendations for Board action.

Programs within the Center for Lifelong Learning include

  • Military Programs, including Military Evaluations, Military Installation Voluntary Education Review, and military registries (for the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps).
  • Corporate Programs, including the College Credit Recommendation Service, Credit by Examination Program, and civilian registries (a series of computerized educational recordkeeping systems that list ACE-evaluated courses).
  • Research related to adults and their access to and success in higher education. 

Commission membership primarily includes campus CEOs, joined by other representatives from higher education institutions and educational associations.
